Marketing and Communications Manager (Operations Manager, IT ...

The Office of the Vice Provost for IT is seeking a driven, detail-oriented collaborator to serve as Operations Manager, IT Communications.
The IT Communications unit plans and implements print, digital, and community efforts and events designed to showcase the positive impact IT
has on people's lives at the University and beyond. Connect people with IT information and services. Encourage IT community and highlight
the community's talented and passionate technologists. Facilitate partnerships that strengthen IT's ability to support the mission of the
University. The Operations Manager leads day-to-day unit operational and production activities, counsels senior management on operational
and production issues and opportunities, and contributes to overall unit creative and strategic direction and implementation. The Operations
Manager monitors project schedules and team workload allocation, manages project budgets, supervises and coaches staff, and drives unit
efforts around customer relationship management, project and process management, and continuous quality improvement. In conjunction with the
unit director, the Operations Manager ensures operational and production activities, and tactical marketing and communication goals are
aligned with and support the strategic messaging and marketing and communications goals of the unit, IT, and the University. This job will
be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience.

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Additional related experience desired. Experience hiring, training, evaluating and coaching staff, and facilitating employee resource activities preferred. The successful candidate has a reputation as an effective planner and problem-solver, who anticipates future needs and translates those needs into timely action and measurable results. Effective managerial and interpersonal skills, combined with a talent for establishing and sustaining strong relationships and high performing, cross-functional teams is required to assist in supervising a dynamic communications staff, and to work successfully across and with a diverse range of colleagues, peers, partners, customers and leadership, both within and outside IT and the University. The successful candidate embraces a high-energy, mission-focused workplace culture that strives for excellence through continuous personal and team improvement. Relies on creativity, experience, sound judgment, and originality to accomplish objectives, while performing a variety of tasks on an array of projects with multiple and definite deadlines. Possesses the ability to adapt quickly, communicate effectively, understand and execute creative and technical directions, and think critically. Demonstrates a strong commitment to collaboration through the embodiment of professionalism, openness, and the community-oriented character of the University.
