Global pending on VoIP and UC services to reach $377 billion ...

According to a recent report put out by market research firm Infonetics, over the next five years, businesses will spend $377 billion dollars on VoIP and UC services. The report also found that a managed IP PBX system will represent 15 to 20 percent of investments, making it the largest segment of business VoIP option.

Earlier this month, the 2012 ITEXPO was held in Austin and the major takeaway from the event is that the demand for UC and VoIP services is increasing at a rapid pace. Robbie Pleasant, a TMC Contributor, recapped the event in a recent blog post. One of the other major focuses was defining unified communications, as many in the industry feel UC is a vague term.

"UC is, simply put, a way for companies to improve business processes, enhance employee productivity, and reduce costs." wrote Pleasant. "UC is a solution made up of many elements, such as messaging, collaboration, social media, and much more. A UC solution should offer a unified user interface; that is, access to all UC capabilities from a single screen or interface."
